Biography

Ella Harris was a female rhino born on 08/01/1971 in United Kingdom. She grew up in an environment very rich in culture and history, which gave her a passion for exploration and discovery.


Starting in her high school years, Ella became interested in space science and technology. She worked hard to graduate as an astronaut and then went to study at the European Space Center. There, she acquired the technical skills needed to undertake space missions.


In 1996, Ella became the first female rhino to be sent into space by the European Space Center. Its mission was to make scientific observations on extragalactic planets in order to gather practical information about this unexplored universe. During her mission, she performed several extravesicular outings in order to perform various tests and experiments on space objects around the spacecraft for which she was responsible.


Unfortunately, Ella Harris tragically died on 08/03/2001 while participating in an extravesicular mission when her spacesuit damaged causing her imminent loss. Her courage and determination inspired many around the world and she will always be remembered as an incredible pioneer who paved the way for a brighter future for human space exploration.
