Biography

William Wenger the Heron was a man born on July 23, 1770 in Switzerland and died on March 27, 1832. His main value was tolerance. He left his country at the age of 20 to go to France, where he took his first steps in the Napoleonic army. As a soldier, William showed great bravery and determination that did not go unnoticed by senior officers. He was quickly promoted to adjutant and took part in several military campaigns with Napoleon Bonaparte, notably the Austrian Campaign of 1805.


During this campaign, William particularly distinguished himself by his bravery and tenacity in the face of the Austrian troops. An anecdote tells that one day while he was part of the battalion in charge of retaking an Austrian fort on the heights of the Alps, William managed to capture an Austrian cannon which was then used to repel the enemy and win the victory for the French troops. . This exploit allowed William to be honored by Napoleon Bonaparte himself, who appointed him Adjutant-Major for services rendered during this exemplary military campaign.
