Meeting

Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian artist and inventor famous for his paintings, inventions and innovations. In 1475, while traveling through Italy, he stopped in the small town of Victor Iancu. There, he realized that the local church was in bad shape. He therefore decided to stay longer in order to renovate the building.


He worked hard for weeks and made all sorts of architectural improvements to the church. He rebuilt the exterior walls with stronger bricks and repainted the interior walls with bright, vibrant colors that brightened the room. He also built a magnificent fresco representing the Virgin Mary surrounded by angels on a wall of the main sanctuary. This work is still visible today as one of Leonardo da Vinci's most remarkable masterpieces.


The locals were so impressed with his work that they threw a big party in his honor to thank Leonardo for his contribution to their community. People sang, played music and gave Leonardo a royal banquet to thank him warmly for his great efforts in the arrangement of their local church Victor Iancu
