Origin Story

Once upon a time there was a young man named Torii who dreamed of traveling the world. He had heard that the best views were in China and so he decided to leave for this distant country. After a long journey, Torii finally arrived at the Great Wall of China. He was immediately amazed by her beauty and grandeur; he knew he had to capture this scene forever.


Torii then took out his brushes and colors, and began to paint an ukiyo-e of the towering walls that stood before him. The scene was magnificent: the white walls contrasting with the blue sky, the pointed towers standing out against the horizon, the trees waving in the breeze... For hours, Torii painstakingly painted every detail until he be satisfied with the end result. Now everyone could admire the Great Wall of China through their art!
