Meeting

Leonardo da Vinci was a very curious and eager to learn man. He traveled across Europe to see the wonders of nature and discover new things. One day, while he was walking in the Balkan Mountains, he heard a dull rumble coming closer. Hiding behind a rock, Leonardo saw a large dark figure approaching rapidly: it was a bear!


The big animal stopped in front of Leonardo and looked at him with interest. Their eyes met and they remained still for several seconds before the bear spoke: "Hello Sir, I am Naira Bakhtadze". Leonard was surprised because he did not expect the bear to speak! But Naira explained that she had been studying human languages for years and she was glad to have finally found someone to chat with.


Leonardo was honored to meet Naira Bakhtadze and they spent the rest of the day discussing the wonders of the natural world around them. They exchanged their ideas on art, science and philosophy until the sun began to go down behind the mountains. Before leaving, Naira gave a small purse filled with gold to Leonardo as thanks for his kindness and hospitality. Years passed and Leonardo treasured this purse in memory of his unexpected encounter with the Bear Naira Bakhtadze.
