Mazie Boyle is a hippopotamus who lives in a small coastal town. She is seen by her neighbors as an outsider and finds it difficult to make friends. One day, she discovers that the village is threatened by a group of pirates who seek to steal the treasures of the inhabitants. Determined to save her home, Mazie takes up arms and begins to fight her own fight against the invaders. With the help of her new friends, she defends the city against the pirates and eventually succeeds in repelling their attack. The film ends with a scene where Mazie receives a standing ovation from the entire community for saving the town and bringing peace to the people.
