Winter Story

Once upon a time there was a young man who lived on the coast in winter. The days were short and the nights long, but he liked to walk along the shore to admire the spectacular sunsets. He also enjoyed the peace and quiet that winter brought to this place.


One day, as he was walking on the beach, he noticed a small white creature squirming in the water. Intrigued, he approached to see what it was and discovered that it was a seal! The seal swam towards him and seemed to be waving his head at him. Surprised by this unusual behavior, the young man looked around but saw no one else on the beach.


The seal walked to a flat rock near the shore and settled there comfortably as if it were its natural bed. The young man then realized that the seal needed shelter to spend the winter warm away from the marine predators that usually inhabit the cold waters of the winter shore. With great patience and care, he built a shelter to protect the little animal for the months to come. Every day, he lit a fire near the refuge to keep the seal warm while it sunbathed on its cozy rock or quietly explored the surroundings looking for succulent shellfish to eat.


With each passing day, a growing friendship formed between them and soon it grew stronger than anything they could have imagined. When spring finally arrived, the young man savored every moment spent with his new friend before he set off again towards his newfound marine freedom.
