Picture of Cow Ukiyo-e

Origin Story

Once upon a time there was a cow named Utagawa who lived in the countryside of Japan. She loved to walk along the rice fields and enjoy the gentle spring breeze. Every morning she sat by the pond to watch the birds fly and sing.

One day, an artist named Utagawa passed by and decided to capture its charm on an ukiyo-e. He drew her graceful figure, shining eyes, and silky fur with great detail and precision. Once finished, he showed Utagawa his work and she was delighted with the result!

Utagawa was very proud that her portrait was immortalized on such a beautiful ukiyo-e. From that day on, she kept telling all her friends how she had been immortalized by this talented artist. She savored every moment she passed by the pond gazing at her own image reflected in the ukiyo-e drawn by Utagawa.
