Picture of Marmot Ukiyo-e

Origin Story

Once upon a time there was a little marmot that lived in the mountains of Japan. He spent his days exploring, discovering and having fun. One day, while walking in the forest, he came across an ukiyo-e artist named Keisai. Keisai was fascinated by the marmot and decided to capture it to make a painting. The marmot did not understand what was happening but it was too late, Keisai had started his work and soon his canvas representing the marmot was finished. The vibrant colors and precise details gave the painting a magnificent appearance. The marmot was so beautiful that people from all over the country came to admire Keisai's work. The painting became very popular and is still one of the most famous Japanese ukiyo-e today. Although the little marmot was captured by the artist, he is happy because thanks to his portrait, he is now known all over the world!
