Picture of Parrot Ukiyo-e

Origin Story

The parrot was a very beloved and popular animal in Japan. Once the painter Utamaro decided to create an ukiyo-e depicting this charming bird. He started working on the canvas and proceeded to draw the parrot using bright colors and soft lines to give relief to the image.

Once he had finished his work, he began to observe his creation with admiration. The parrot looked almost real, staring directly at the viewer with its eyes shining and its head tilted to the side. The feathers were so well drawn you could almost feel them. The composition was perfect and Utamaro knew that his work would be admired by many people for its beautiful colors and artistic precision.

A few years later, Utamaro's work became very famous because it reflected traditional Japanese culture so well represented by this colorful little parrot that captured eyes wherever it went.
