Origin Story

Once upon a time there was a crocodile named Yoshu, who lived in the deep waters of the river. He was very happy and liked to walk along the banks to admire the surrounding landscapes. One day, he decided to venture further and found himself facing a magnificent waterfall. He was so amazed by it that he decided to stay there forever and started painting ukiyo-e on the rock walls around the waterfall.


The years passed and soon, the whole region knew the extraordinary work of the crocodile Yoshu. People came to admire his art with admiration and respect, but no one knew what had become of the great artist. Until the day when a curious young boy discovered his cave hidden behind the waterfall and found the sleeping crocodile in the middle of a collection of magnificent works painted on the rock walls. The boy understood that this animal was actually the artist we were talking about so much!


The boy took care of the crocodile until he finally awoke after years of magical sleep; their friendship grew very strong as the days passed and they would often share their stories around the fire each evening before Yoshu left to continue painting his artwork in his secret cave. And of course, whenever the boy visited his friend, he took a unique copy of Yoshu's ukiyo-e with him so that everyone could admire his exceptional skill!
