Picture of Bernese mountain dog In Its Natural Environment
Description Of The Environment
The Bernese Mountain Dog originated in the Swiss Alps and was bred to serve as a working dog on farms. It is therefore suitable for cold and mountainous climates. Its dense, thick coat protects it from the elements, while its short, sturdy legs allow it to easily cross deep snow. The Bernese Mountain Dog likes to run freely over varied terrain, but they can also be trained to swim or take part in more specialized sporting activities such as agility or hurdling. Finally, as he is a very sociable dog who loves company, he will particularly appreciate group walks in nature.
