Picture of Dalmatian In Its Natural Environment
Description Of The Environment
The Dalmatian originates from the Adriatic region, in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was bred to be a herding and guard dog, which explains its sturdy size and long legs. Its natural environment consists mainly of mixed forests with evergreen trees, thorny bushes and grassy meadows. The gentle hills provide a variety of wildlife habitats including European gray wolf, European red fox, European wild boar and more. The flora includes shrubs such as hawthorn, yellow broom, black bramble and white acacia. When they don't have to work or play canine football (a very popular sport among Dalmatians), these dogs can spend time exploring this environment rich in colors and smells.
