The lion is a terrestrial animal that lives mainly in savannahs and open grasslands. They are very adaptable, but prefer places with dense grass for camouflage and hunting prey. Lions also live in tropical forests, semi-arid areas and even mountainous regions. Lions need a large amount of space to hunt, which means the more predators there are, the less game there will be available for them.
