Biography

Thérèse Gilliéron was a female bear born on 04/16/1769 in Switzerland. Her main value was solidarity and she dedicated her life to defending this principle. She arrived in France at the age of 18, motivated by her desire to explore the world and participate in the various causes close to her heart.


In 1792, Thérèse enlisted in Napoleon Bonaparte's army and quickly rose through the ranks to reach the rank of lieutenant-colonel. His bravery and strength impressed his superiors, who recognized his exceptional military potential. She participated in the German Campaign (1805-1807), where she distinguished herself by her bravery and courage in the face of opposing forces. During the siege of Regensburg, Thérèse led a daring assault on the Austrian troops to take possession of the ramparts; this heroic action earned her a promotion to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and the recognition of the soldiers she commanded.


An anecdote tells that during the German campaign, Thérèse used to offer each evening part of the rations allocated to her to the less fortunate soldiers she commanded; this gesture of generosity did much to make the men feel more united behind her as a military leader.


Thérèse Gilliéron died on June 27, 1824 after having spent her entire life serving her convictions and those of others with courage and integrity.
