Biography

Dan Hall was a snow leopard born on September 5, 1965 in United Kingdom. He grew up in a loving family and always had a passion for space exploration. At the age of 18, he signed up with the Royal Air Force and remained there until 1991. During this period, he took part in several space missions, including some on the International Space Station (ISS).

In 1992, Dan Hall joined NASA and became involved in the Mercury and Gemini space programs. He made his first spaceflight in 1997 aboard the spacecraft Discovery. Its mission was to test navigation systems for future manned flights to Mars. On this trip, Dan Hall became the first man to walk on the lunar surface without a pressure suit – earning him the nickname “Snow Leopard” by international media.

After his successful mission to the Moon, Dan Hall returned home where he spent his free days skydiving and practicing various extreme sports such as snowboarding and surfing. In 2002, he returned to service to participate in the Apollo 11 program which aimed to send a man to Mars. Unfortunately, this mission did not come to fruition because it was too risky – despite all his indomitable determination and courage – and Dan Hall returned home unable to fulfill his ultimate dream of going to Mars.

On January 2, 2009, while practicing an extreme sport in the Swiss mountains, Dan Hall died suddenly following a fatal fall that will end his life full of extraordinary and exceptional adventures.
