Biography

Rosaria Caputo, born on November 6, 1963 in Rome, Italy, was a renowned cosmonaut. She grew up in a very modest environment and has always been determined and ambitious. From an early age, she became interested in astronomy and space science and decided to pursue studies to become a cosmonaut.

After graduating from college in 1983, Rosaria went to work for NASA where she quickly became a valued member of the scientific staff. In 1989, she was chosen from hundreds of applicants to participate in an international space mission that was to explore uncharted worlds beyond the solar system. During her mission, Rosaria was nicknamed "The Chameleon" because she could easily adapt to the harsh conditions encountered in space and be successful in anything she set out to do.

Sadly, on February 26, 2012, while still in space on another international exploratory mission, Rosaria died of a sudden heart attack due to the extreme pressure exerted by cosmic radiation on her fragile body. His death aroused much outrage among his fellow astronauts who hailed his exceptional bravery and insight which enabled the international scientific community to better understand the unknown universe around us.
