Biography

Odette Couturier-Dufour was a French woman born June 21, 1760 and died January 6, 1830. She was known for her integrity and loyalty to Napoleon Bonaparte. She grew up in a small country town in France, but she dreamed of seeing the world and its endless possibilities. When she was 20, she packed her bags and left for Paris to meet Napoleon Bonaparte. Odette was fascinated by Napoleon's vision of the future for France and decided to join his army. Over the years, she rose through the ranks until she reached the rank of major in the Napoleonic army.

She participated in the famous Battle of Waterloo in 1815 where she distinguished herself by her exceptional bravery. When all seemed lost, Odette mounted a white horse and led a brave charge against the British forces that eventually gave the French soldiers the advantage, allowing Napoleon Bonaparte to achieve a remarkable victory. Her unexpected bravery inspired the soldiers around her so much that they nicknamed Odette "The White Lady" because of the white horse she rode during the battle. This heroic feat did not go unnoticed by General Napoleon who promoted Odette to the rank of Major after the battle as recognition for her exceptional bravery during this historic event.
