Biography

Adrien Benali was a male parrot born on 04/14/1765 in Belgium. He was renowned for his great honesty and his sense of humor.

In 1780, he decided to leave Belgium to go and live in France. He moved to Paris where he quickly found a job in a second-hand clothes shop run by a former Napoleonic soldier who appreciated his business acumen and his knowledge of firearms. This allowed him to be noticed by Napoleon Bonaparte who was looking for motivated officers to carry out his military campaigns. In 1798, Adrien Benali was integrated into the French Army and received the rank of Marshal after successfully leading the Egyptian Campaign (1798-1801).

During this campaign, Adrien Benali showed great bravery and became very popular with the French soldiers who affectionately nicknamed him "The Parrot" because of his ability to imitate the sounds he heard around him. It is said that during the battle of Mount Tabor, Adrien would have encouraged the French troops by shouting: “Long live Napoleon! as their opponents were about to give up the fight against the imposing forces of the French Marshal. His bravery impressed Napoleon so much that he obtained his prestigious title of Marshal and became an important figure within the First French Empire until his death in 1833.
