Biography

Cosetta De Angelis the Tiger was an Italian astronaut born on February 18, 1951. She grew up in Rome and developed an early interest in space and science. From the age of 14, she enrolled in a school specializing in astronomy and spent years learning the basics of the discipline.


After graduating, Cosetta joined the European Space Agency (ESA) where she quickly became a key member of the European space program. In 1979 she became the first Italian female astronaut to be trained to fly in space and in 1984 she left for her first space mission aboard an American shuttle. During his career, Cosetta carried out several missions that extended our knowledge of the solar system and still contribute to current scientific research.


Sadly, Cosetta De Angelis the Tiger tragically died on July 26, 2001 while on a mission to the International Space Station (ISS). His invaluable contribution to the world of science will always be etched in our memories.
