Biography

Amélie Bauwens was a female panda born on 06/15/1762 in Belgium and died on 12/01/1835. She was known for her main value, Gratitude. Amélie grew up in rural Belgium and at the age of 18 she decided to leave her native country to explore the world.


She arrived in France at the age of 20 and found an adoptive family there who gave her a roof and warm clothes. Amélie then joined the French army under the orders of General Napoleon Bonaparte. Her bravery and courage soon caught the attention of the commander who promoted her to the rank of major after only a few months of military service.


Amélie then took part in the Battle of Bautzen (1813) where she showed great bravery, leading her men relentlessly until victory was won by French troops. This event will be remembered as the moment when Amelie managed to stop an entire charge of Austrian soldiers with her Herculian strength, which allowed the French troops to finally take victory.


An anecdote tells that after this battle, Amelie received a saber of honor as recognition for her exceptional bravery during this historic event. This saber was later donated by Amelie to the French National Museum so that everyone can admire her endless bravery and gratitude to her fellow soldiers who fought on the battlefield that day.
